La agencia de comunicación de Clarks, se puso en contacto conmigo para invitarme a la presentacion de la colección Otoño-Invierno 2013-2014 de la empresa británica. Seguramente la firma de calzado mas cómoda del mundo, que mejor se adapta a las tendencias. / Clarks' press agency contacted me to invited me to the Fall-Winter 2012-2014 collection. Probably Clarks the most comfortable footwear company in the world, that is best suitable to trends.

Un poco de historia. / A bit of history.
James Clarks trabajaba curtiendo pieles para hacer alfombras en la empresa de su hermano, Cyrus Clarks, era 1825 y así sin mas echo un vistazo a los restos de piel de oveja que quedaban y decidió que se podían aprovechar para hacer zapatillas. Esas zapatillas tan solo fueron el primer zapato de Clarks. En 1842 las zapatillas eran todo un éxito, vendían unos 1000 pares al mes. Ambos hermanos decidieron nombrar a su empresa C&J Clarks Limited. / James Clarks worked at a tannery, making sheepskin rugs at his brother business, Cyrus Clarks, it was 1825, and in a flash he took a look to the off-cuts and thought he could use it to handcraft slippers. Those slippers wore the first Clarks shoes. By the yeas 1842 the slippers were a huge success, the average were 1000 pairs a month. Both brothers had decided to name their new trade C&J Clarks Limited.
Con el paso de los años la firma paso por momentos críticos, pero pese a ellos siguió a flote y en 1936 inaguro una red de tiendas con el nombre de "Peter Lord". Con la llegada de la Segunda Guerra Mundial todas las fabricas tuvieron estar al servicio del Gobierno, a Clarks le toco diseñar una suela especial para los militares británicos. /As the years pass by, the brand went through hard moments, but it survived and in 1936 opened their own chain of stores under the name of "Peter Lord". As War War II arrived, all the fabrics stopped to play their parts into War, Clarks were in charge to design special soles for the british troops.
A partir de los 40, Clarks siguió creciendo, aumentando su producción y expandiéndose internacionalmente. Introdujo nuevos materiales como el poliuretano, y la tecnología Active Air. Todo ello hizo que Clarks se convirtiera en una de las firmas mas conocidas de calzado. Fue en 1950 cuando Nathan Clarks lanzo la famosa Desert Boot; uno de los iconos de la firma. / From the 40's, Clarks kept growing, increasing production and expanding aboard. Introduced new materials such as polyurethane, and the Active Air technology. En 1990 siguieron creciendo, aunque tuvieron que cerrar sus fabricas en Reino Unido y moverse a países donde la producción fuera mas económica. Desde entonces han intentado adaptarse a cada momento del mercado, eso si, trabajando siempre con materiales de alta calidad, tecnología y comodidad. En la actualidad, Clarks intenta adaptarse a nuestra época, y fabricar calzados de diseño; porque lo bonito y cómodo también es posible. /In 1990continued growing, although they had toclose theirfactoriesin the UK andmoveto countries whereproduction was less expensive. En invierno el british sera tendencia, y gracias a ello, Clarks se ha aprovechado para crear su próxima colección. La idea: modelos versátiles, cómodos, y con materiales de primera calidad. Clarks, se preocupa por el diseño femenino, y por estar al día con las tendencias. Son zapatos funcionales para usar en el día a día, ya sea para ir a la oficina, ir de tiendas, o acudir a un after-work. / Next Winter the british trend will be in, and Clarks has used it to create the new collection. The idea: comfy, versatile models, made with first quality materials. Clarks get focus on the female design, and to be up with the trends. They are functional shoes to use everyday, to go to the office, shopping or to attend with your friends to an after-work.
La gama de colores es extensa, aunque son tres los tonos clave: el aguamarina, el granate y el negro. Los materiales: pieles de alta calidad de distintos tipos, como la piel de potro o la de serpiente. Los diseños son muy variados, desde los mas clásicos y formales, a otros mas trendy como los salones con puntera metálica, el botín campero, o los botines de motorista. / The colors are many, althought three highlight: aquamarine, garnet, and black. The fabrics: good quality of differents skins, such as coalt skin or snake. The designs are very different, from classic and formal ones, to more trandy designs as metallic toe, country bootoies, or biker ankle heel.

Una de mis piezas claves, a parte de los botines camperos o los de serpiente o potro (cuyas imagenes estan mas arriba), son los salones con puntera metalica. Ideales para cualquier fondo de armario. / One of my clue pieces, besides country booties, or the snake or colt skin (whose pics are above) are the knitten heels with metallic toe. Gorgeous for any wardrobe.

La colección masculina es muy británica, se inspira en Reino Unido y en la elegancia masculina por saber vestir. Clarks se centra en dos ideas: tecnología y calidad. Los diseños son versátiles para poder adaptarlos a cualquier situación o momento. / The male collection is really british, the inspiration comes from United Kindom and the male elegance when it come to dressing. Clarks gets focus in two ideas: technology and quality. The design are versatil to be wear in any moment or situation.
Clarks crea por un lado, una colección de vestir cuyos modelos claves son los zapatos oxford o pala vega. La firma vuelve a los años donde los sastres y el diseño a medida era lo único que se demandaba, y ofrece unos zapatos clásicos, con toques modernos para que puedan ser adaptados por el hombre del siglo XXI. Los materiales son exquisitos, están troquelados, y son realmente ligeros. Sobre diseños podemos hablar de unos cuantos, todos cuidados hasta el mínimo detalle. / Clarks has created on one side, a dressy collection whose models are oxford. The brand goes back to the tailored days, and the sartorial indulgence, and offered classic shoes with modern touch so they can be adapt to the 21th Century men. The materials are exquisitive, they are die-cut, and are very light. There are few designs, all are taking care to detail.
Por otro lado, Clarks ha diseñado una colección mas casual donde mezcla la tradición del artesano con el calzado campero, el estilo grunge y otros detalles. / One the other hand, Clarks has designed a more casual collection, where mix the craftmen tradition to country footwear, the grunge style or other details.
Fue Clarks quien diseño las botas de los paracaidistas británicos en la Segunda Guerra Mundial, y como seña de identidad ha sacado el modelo Newby Fly, cuya suela esta inspirada en dichas botas. / Was Clarks who designed the paratrooped british soldiers boots at War War II, and as a identity sign has lunch the Newby Flymodel, whose rippled sole is similar to those.

Esta colección se llama "Originals Pioneers". Se trata de recuperar modelos legendarios que no pasan de moda y reinterpretarlos, rediseñarlos adaptandolos a los nuevos tiempos. Los materiales proceden de los mejores fabricantes del mundo; Horween, Gloverall, Woolrich etc... y las suelas; de crepe natural, miticas de Clarks desde 1950, desde la primera Desert boots. / This collection is named "Originals Pioneers". The idea is to recover the legendary models that are timeless, and reinterpetend, redesigning and adapting them to the new times. The materials comes from the best manufactures in the world; Horween, Gloverall, Woolrich etc... and the sole; natural crepe, mythic from Clarks since 1950 and the Desert boots.
Se lo que se te pasa por la cabeza ahora mismo, si cuando vamos a una tienda Clarks, no solemos ver todos estos modelos. Ello se debe a que las tiendas no pueden tener toda la coleccion, asi que en función de lo que demanda cada zona, escogen las piezas que mas se adaptan a su publico.
